Victorias Spa Health Resorts Daylesford Hepburn Springs

The artwork for the original colour lithographic travel poster was created by Harold Freedman for the Victorian Railways and printed by W. M. Houston, Govt. Printer in the 1950's. This wonderful poster promoted The Victorian Railways for day trips to Victoria's spa resorts. The illustration introduces stylised elements depicting Swiss Italian family of three joyfully dancing while holding a glass of sparkling spring water.

Daylesford is located the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, within the Shire of Hepburn, Victoria, Australia, approximately 108 kilometres north-west of Melbourne. The area was first established in 1852 during the Victorian gold rush. Daylesford is one of many magnificent Victorian tourist destinations and a celebrated Australian spa town, The town has several spas, restaurants and galleries are popular tourist hangouts. The wider area around the town, including Hepburn Springs to the north, is well-known for its natural spring mineral spas and is the location of over 80 per cent of Australia's effervescent mineral water reserve.
